Three-year-old Athena should be spending her days playing, running, and enjoying life with the family that loves her.
Instead, she is fighting for her life.

Athena recently swallowed part of a toy, creating a dangerous intestinal obstruction. After becoming ill, she was rushed to Mosaic Veterinary Emergency Hospital, where diagnostic imaging confirmed the presence of a foreign body obstruction requiring emergency surgical intervention.

Without surgery, an obstruction can quickly become fatal. As the intestines lose blood supply and tissue begins to die, the risk of perforation, infection, sepsis, and death increases dramatically.

Athena's owner, Jose, did exactly what any devoted dog owner would do. He sought emergency veterinary care immediately and explored every available option to save her life.
​
Unfortunately, the estimated cost of surgery is approximately $7,500.
Despite desperately wanting to move forward with treatment, the financial burden became overwhelming. With no way to secure the full amount immediately, Jose was forced to bring Athena home while continuing to search for a solution. Since then, he has been doing everything possible to raise funds—including selling and pawning personal belongings—in hopes of securing the lifesaving surgery Athena urgently needs.

Adding to the challenge, Jose is preparing to leave this weekend to begin training at the police academy, taking the next step toward a career dedicated to serving and protecting others. Instead of focusing solely on this important milestone, he is carrying the weight of knowing his beloved dog is fighting for her life.
